East Sunnyside has begun to experience and will continue to experience significant re-development over the next few years as the 41st & Fox Station begins service in the Fall of 2016. Noted in Blueprint Denver as an “Area of Change,” this small area plan is intended to inform the community and City of Denver of the neighborhood’s vision for this small area of the larger Sunnyside Neighborhood.

Ask RTD to add a stop at 41st and Fox to the B line!

As you know, Sunnyside is connected to the lightrail station at 41st and Fox via the pedestrian bridge. In order to activate our stop, we encourage you to sign this petition: http://chn.ge/2a3o8MV

Currently, only the Gold line to Arvada will be stopping at the 41st and Fox station. The B line to Westminster will be passing through. We consider the more access to routes connecting our neighborhood to others, the better. Please encourage your RTD representatives to consider adding a stop to the B line at 41st and Fox.

The Sunnyside Neighborhood Plan

Sunnyside United Neighbors, Inc. (SUNI) was formed in 1991 as part of the Sunnyside Neighborhood Plan, a process that brought stakeholders together to identify problems and collaborate on solutions.

Sunnyside’s neighborhood plan is now decades old, yet the vision neighbors and local business and property owners came up with is still relevant today:

“Residents of Sunnyside envision a neighborhood that is safe, beautiful and clean. They see a neighborhood that is inviting for families, with good schools and nice parks. Should Sunnyside Care About I-70 East?

All of Sunnyside is within ten blocks of I-70. Sitting in my yard on the corner of 43rd and Umatilla, I’m five blocks south of the Highway, and I can always hear it. I’ve thought of installing a little fountain to mask the sound, but what can I do to block the air pollution? Of course, cities are not perfectly quiet and pristine places, but at some point it is reasonable to say, Enough!
