SUBJECT: SUNI December 2023 Newsletter

Hello, Neighbors.

This December, we spread cheer while ensuring no family struggles alone.

Notably, we're supporting two DPS schools needing community aid for their Venezuelan students lacking basics. Many who arrived are still struggling to find stability.

Donations go directly to Bryant Webster and Valdez to fund essentials like meals, clothes, and holiday gifts. Please consider contributing to provide vital warmth and hope this winter. DONATE TODAY.

Opportunities abound to spread more cheer too. Donate a gift to the Aztlan Toyz 4 Kidz Holiday Party before Dec. 15.

Join us to meet The Grinch & Cindy Lou on Dec. 9 at The Sunnyside Supper Club. Find other fun neighborhood events below.

Finally, share your holiday joy by posting family photos, decor, meals, and adventures on Instagram using #MySunnyside.

Wishing peace, joy, and warmth this season,

The SUNI Board

P.S. We're looking for a social media maestro to join our team. Commitment is 1 hour/week running our Instagram/FB channels. Email Mariah Kamei (mariahdws@gmail.com) to find out more.

Give Venezuelan Children Warmth & Hope this Winter

We are supporting Bryant Webster and Valdez schools this holiday season, which have many Venezuelan students needing basic essentials like food and warm clothing. These schools need additional community aid. When one child struggles, all children feel the classroom impact.

Many students arrived with minimal belongings, facing profound challenges. Donations will be distributed directly to necessities at these two schools. Even small contributions create real impact—100% benefits displaced youth lacking stability.

Please consider donating to provide vital warmth, meals, and optimism this winter. No child should go without basics. Any amount helps, going straight to those with the greatest need. Tell friends how they can help provide hope!

Spread Cheer: Donate Gifts for Quigg Newton Kids

The Aztlan Recreation Center provides vital support for local youth. On Dec 15, they'll host an event with Santa, food, and cheer! Most importantly, this offers gifts to children who may otherwise go without.

They still need unwrapped presents, especially for ages 10-15. Please consider dropping a new gift at the Center or donating via their Amazon Wishlist for delivery.

This season, let's rally to spread joy to Aztlan families! Even one gift makes an impact on children facing hardship.

District 1 Corner - Amanda Sandoval

Last month, Denver City Council passed the 2024 budget, including over $14 million in amendments - a historic feat compared to prior years. Additional funding was secured for rental assistance, traffic fatality elimination efforts, and safe childhood travel routes. Mayor Johnston approved the amendments, reflecting commitment to affordable housing, Vision Zero safety, and the Safe Routes to School program.
