SUBJECT: SUNI March 2024 Newsletter

Hello, Neighbors.

Happy March! 🌷 It's a special time in our neighborhood - the birds are singing, the air smells like spring, and a lot is happening.

This month, we're not just gearing up for St. Patrick's Day 🍀; we're also celebrating César Chávez's legacy. He taught us a lot about fighting for what's right, and it's something we keep in mind as we look at projects like the 38th Avenue Corridor Study. It's all about making our area better for everyone.

Speaking of making things better, have you heard about the e-bike rebate program? With the weather getting nicer, it's the perfect time to think about hopping on an e-bike 🚴‍♂️ to explore our beautiful neighborhood.

And speaking of celebrations, let's not forget about our schools. Sunnyside elementary school Trevista at Horace Mann needs our support to keep their amazing paraprofessionals. These folks are key to making sure our kids grow up ready to take on the world 🌎.

Let's make this March one to remember for our community, our environment, and our kids.

Cheers,

The SUNI Board

Don't miss the chance to shape the future of West 38th Avenue!

The West 38th Avenue Corridor Study by Denver's DOTI aims to enhance mobility, safety, plan for Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), and explore greening opportunities. Building on prior studies and community feedback, the study will assess past recommendations against current needs to formulate a unified plan for future improvements and development.

The project, launched in December 2023 and concluding in about a year, involves a three-phase public engagement strategy: crafting a vision and gathering initial feedback, discussing design alternatives and collecting input, and finally presenting a preferred design. It also plans to identify immediate, low-cost solutions for urgent safety and mobility issues for implementation in the next fiscal year.

Survey#1 - Closes Mar 31,2024

District 1 Corner - Amanda Sandoval

In March, the Northwest Denver community honors César Chávez, a leader who championed justice, equality, and respect, co-founding the United Farm Workers union to fight for better conditions and rights for migrant farm workers. His nonviolent protests led to significant social and political reforms. For over 20 years, the Northside has celebrated his legacy with a march that ends at César Chávez Park in Berkeley. The community is invited to join the celebration on April 13th, reflecting the ongoing commitment to the values Chávez stood for.

eBike Rebates Back and Better Than Ever

Thanks to the voter-approved Climate Protection Fund, Denver's popular e-bike rebate program is back and better than ever for 2024!

We have made changes to make this program simpler, safer, and easier for Denverites to get out of cars and onto e-bikes. Since 2022, the e-bike rebate has put nearly 8,000 e-bikes on Denver's roads.

Mark you calendars!
